Abstract: It was previously reported that knowledge of nursery rhymes enhances children's phonological sensitivity which in turn helps them to learn to read. The majority of classic nursery rhymes were written centuries ago and have lyrics associated with values of a mankind of long long time ago, not easily understandable by young children. Here, we report original nursery rhyme poem "Boys and Girls, Hello". The lyrics is easy to understand by a baby or toddler, and is a great appeal for any child that parents and educators can reuse as a foundation for family word games and new poem creation.
Boys and Girls, Hello!
You are good friends of mine!
My love to you is simple!
I love you very much!
I miss you every morning
I miss you every day!
I am so happy
To be with you today!
This is original nursery rhyme song lyrics, in simple English language, for XXI century children, babies and toddlers, and an opening nursery rhyme address to boys and girls reading and singing with Rhymes for the Nursery. It was written by a loving father of two, with kids participation. This song included into free printable children's mini book download [1] and is a basis for Nursery Rhymes Children's cartoon video collection [2], see publication references below. This poem lyrics was also revised to become a Good Morning Mommy and Daddy nursery rhyme, an opening rhyme of our family poetry Volume 3 [3]
It was previously reported that knowledge of nursery rhymes enhances children's phonological sensitivity which in turn helps them to learn to read [4]. The majority of classical nursery rhymes were written in eighteen and nineteen centuries. A number of these rhymes have lyrics associated with values of a mankind of long long time ago [5]. This is why lyrics of vast majority of traditional poems and songs for young children are not easily understandable by twenty first century kids and have little appeal for modern kids in Contemporary Society.
We can hardly name a single classical nursery poem or classical nursery song addressing the major feelings of major value for every child being, an essence of love to mother, father, brother, sister, grandparents, and family values. This is where our simple words of love (all of basic baby English vocabularly) are rhymed as an original "Boys and Girls, Hello!" poem. This lyrics is easy to understand by a baby or toddler, and is a direct appeal to self of babies and toddlers. As a result this simple nursery rhyme is an attraction for every child that parents and educators can use and reuse as a foundation for unlimited family word games.
Once the lyrics of this nursery rhyme is memorized, we welcome one of the parents to encourage a child to make a variation of a poem by finding words of love addressed to other parent, grandparents, other family members and family pets. Important thing to remember is that teaching parent should encourage child expression of love to other parent and be a continuos primer of it. One can not enforce natural flow of feelings based magical words of love, but should not miss recording these words once his or her child voiced these feelings! Similarly, this can be a creative teacher assisted in-class engaging learning activity for children at a day care center, nursery school or an elementary school home work assignment. When your kid loves what he or she has written, we welcome you to publish your edition of this poem (or our other poems) as a Rhymes for the Nursery journal poetry masterpiece, see information for authors for details. Such interactive engagement will certainly rocket every child imaginative expression of feelings and self-confidence.
